What have I been up to?

So yes I believe I am going to cosplay Lucina.

8/6/13

On the road to Homer right now, so this could get a little bit bumpy. Woke up early this morning to get all the bags into the car, and drove off. (takes 4 hours.) To sum up my week, or since school was out, I've been chilling working on my internship at Title Wave bookstore, and watching movies. So far, I saw Jack the Giant Slayer, Epic, and re-watched the Wrath of Kahn.
Holy Crap.
There's a moose crossing the road right in front of us at the moment. Looks to be young. 1-2 years I'd say? Well, anyways. I'm still looking forward to seeing Star Trek : into darkness and the Great Gatsby as well.

At the time I'm writing this on the blog, I've already seen into Darkness, and hopefully seeing GG today.

While looking around, I noticed that the geography of Alaska is actually quite similar to that of Germany. Mountains, valleys, and flat stretches, but instead of farms and churches, there's a lot more wildlife. (bears, foxes, moose, lynx, eagles... etc.) Marshes, no farms, lakes, tons of rivers, and birch trees. There are a lot of tiny trees that are actually super old, so there's just plains of these adorable mini forests. We see plenty of decomposing trees, (thanks to the birch beetle.  :T) and all I can think of is about Epic, and the forces of decay. (It just looks so similar!)
We just passed by another moose, and are now officially in Homer!

9/6/13

I don't actually have a journal entry for this day, but I can tell you aprox what happened.

So, today we woke up, and were greeted with the delicious meal of "A Rosy Outlook B&B", nut encrusted french toast. (and tea. obviously.) Staying with family friends who owned the B&B, who were extremely wonderful. We got into the car, and drove a little ways down the hillside, and suddenly we have stop because there's a momma moose in our path. We watch it for a while, and then we see two babies (twins!) on the side. Filming for a bit, and then they leave, and we hurry down to the spit.
Arriving at the beach, we seek out some wildlife in tide pools, but we didn't really find all that much....
We get on to the boat with some other tourists, and drive out. on the way to the cove, we spot a couple of sea otters, tons of kittywakes (a cousin of the sea gull.), a few penguin cousins (I can't remember the correct name), a couple puffins, bald eagles..... yeah. No whales though. pity.
We get to Halibut Cove, and eat lunch on a bench. Afterwards, we go to a bluff over looking the ocean, and film a bit. I spot two eagles, and a bit after, mom spots a baby. (a family!) We sat there a while, watching the youngster fly. Later, we walk a bit, and then get back on the boat.
In the evening, we sit down for pizza next to the beach, and spot a harbor seal far out. (and a little pod of sea otters.) conclusion? Homer is FULL of wildlife!
